What is a Sponsored Post?

A few days ago I had a local business person ask me to give them a shout out over my blog, while I don’t mind supporting the local there is a point you have to reap what you so!  I answered him with the reply “I would love to give you and your business a shout out, I know your business does a great service to our community, however , we are both business people…therefore would you consider doing a sponsored post?”  His response was “What is a Sponsored Post”….well here we go!

Where I come from we live in the STICKS…literally!  I drive 2 ½ miles down a gravel road just to get home, I don’t even have DSL internet, in fact my parents just got satellite internet a few months before I moved home….they were still on dial-up!   Eeeek!   With all that said, I do not expect that every person I meet to understand the “blogger lingo” I speak….so I happily define (after all I am the blogger)!

A sponsored post is a post that is written in return for a money….yes bloggers do that!  We have to disclose in the post that we are being sponsored to voice our opinion, thoughts, photos, or whatever we are talking about.

My sponsored post run anywhere between $5 and $150 a post depending on the request….granted I work cheap and if I am just giving you a shout out consider your post to be cheap!

Why have a sponsored post, well last month my Adventures Among Us blog (my main blog) had 7500 hits, my KLOUT score is at 65, and my Twitter reach….well we won’t go into that!  The point is I have a following, my blog post are up forever (unless I remove them) unlike print articles that are seen in the paper only, and I will work to ensure your topic, product, or post is published via the social networks.

To sum it up and make it make “business sense” as my daddy would say, if you were to offer me $50 to write a post about the local park (in reasonable distance) and how nice the playground equipment is.  I would drive to the park, shoot photos of the playground equipment and may even include photos of children playing on the equipment, I would voice my opinion about the equipment, I would list other things to do around the area (like best ice cream joint close by), and then I would share the article over Facebook (both personal and business) share the photos of the playground over Instagram, pin the article on Pinterest, and my article would be live on my blog forever (unless I remove it).

The point is you are getting UNLIMITED advertising for a tiny tiny price…Sponsored post can be about anything, events, products, hotels….the possibilities are unlimited!  Any questions, or if you are interested in sponsoring a post on my Adventures Among Us (if it fits my website) feel free to email me at adventuresamongus@gmail.com.

I am NOT Free

Over the past few weeks I have had several people ask me how much do I make, how much should I charge, how much....?  After sharing what I charge they seem to flabergasted that I charge at all!  Granted my work is not Harvard standard, but that is not what I am.  This is my work and I am to be the only one to judge my work.

Blogging is not easy, no I am not a "news reporter" nor do I have the latest breaking story, often my story is whatever I mood I am in.  However, I connect with people, I have a fabulous audience that I am ever so grateful for, they read my "non-sense" they discuss what is happening, and they share what I post.   No I am not selling my readers, what I am selling is my connection, my way to communicate with the amazing folks that follow me, and my thoughts and opinions.

So to the companies that lately have asked me to "give" them my work I am sorry, my work is worth something....especially to me, in fact to me my work is priceless.

Who is The Blogging Bozo

Truly amazing humor! #funnykids #singlemom #m...

Everyday I get asked how did you get into blogging?  What is a blogger?  Where do you make money as a blogger?  Can I be a blogger?  and the list goes on and on!

Many months ago I decided that I would start a blog talking about why I blog, giving tips on blogging, and possibly help others that desire to blog get into blogging.  Of course, my plans got sidetracked and others told me I was crazy, but after God brought me full circle again, I am back to my original plans.

My name is Becky (The Blogging Bozo) I am better known as BeckyAdventure or Adventures Among Us.  I have been blogging off and on for about 7 years, but I never truly got into blogging until my son was born and I rediscovered my passion for outdoors.   When my son...I refer to him as D-man or D...was little I started a blog talking about our family adventures.  I had no clue what blogging really was, nor did I care, I just wanted to tell my story for my family and friends to read.  One day I got this message out of the blue and discovered people were really reading my non-sense writing.....I was floored, flattered, and well completely shocked!

I often hate telling that story, because no one believes me when I say No I do not have a journalism degree, no I am not business educated, and more to say I am not a perfect writer!  However, I am real and I will be real with you!   What many don't get is the world may be run by money, but it turns from love and we must love what we are doing to be successful!

What I know about blogging:

  • First have a PASSION, you cannot blog about something that you hate, you will run out of things to say!
  • You will most likely never meet an angry blogger.....you may meet a blogger that writes angry things, but they are not typically angry, because they are following their passion.
  • Blogging is a freedom, you have the ability to connect with others and you get to be OPINIONATED!....Rock On, I have opinions galore!
  • Bloggers are typically REAL people...Do you want a real mom's opinion on Disney, search moms that blog about Disney and you will find real information.
  • Blogging is like having a conversation...Many times you will read a blog post and feel like you are talking face to face with that person.  Connection builds follower and followers increase your stats!
I look forward to sharing my blogging experiences, helping you build your blog, and making new friends that have a passion for blogging also!

That's all for now folks!
